Purpose: To improve the availability and reliability of the converters and to improve the control in environment emission, it has been to replace the converter shell and install a secondary emission control system.

Stage I Approval Date & Cost: 19.01.2017; Rs. 217.5 crore

Present Status: SMS Group GmbH is the L1 bidder. Under process for stage II approval.

Project Brief: To meet the Customers’ requirement for complete basket of dia. 8 to 25 mm TMT bars including value added grades and expand its market share, installation of new merchant mill at DSP is proposed.

Present Status: FR issued on July 2018. In-Principle approval is awaited

Purpose: Due to ageing & prolonged use, availability of wheel rolling mill has reduced. Also, dimensional consistency after rolling has reduced leading to rejection of wheels .For meeting the requirement of forged wheels by Indian Railways on a sustainable basis installation of new wheel rolling mill is a necessity.

Present Status: FR issued on June 2017. In-Principle approval is awaited.

Project Brief: For higher productivity, better reliability and availability of the caster, high casting speed and less casting time and lower production cost it is proposed to upgrade the billet casters.

Present Status: Feasibility Report is under formulation

Purpose: Stoppage/shutdown in the existing deteriorated gas network would result in complete standstill of operation. The deteriorated condition also poses huge health & life hazard owing to poisonous and inflammable nature of the gas media. The existing gas network has been identified as one of the major risks under Enterprise Risk Management. Hence, the alternate Gas Network will ensure reliable and uninterrupted supply of fuel gases to various consumers.

Contractor (Main Package): M/s TATA Projects Ltd

Present Status: Engineering completed and erection of total pipeline (18 Km) has been completed, but commissioning for approx. 3Km line out of 18 Km is pending.

Expected Commissioning: December 2018

                               Purpose: Over the years the health of the Stoves has deteriorated and they are not able to deliver the design parameters. The stoves are operating at an underrated operating condition of HBT of 950 ^oC (max) for Blast volume of 3000 Nm³/  min and the stoves are also prone to frequent breakdowns.

Stage II Approval Date and Cost: 08.10.2016; Rs. 112.13 crore

Contractor: Consortium of Paul Wurth Italia S.P.A, Paul Wurth India limited, New Delhi & MCK Kutty, Bhadravati

Present Status: Engineering completed and site activities are almost completed.

Scheduled Commissioning: January 2018

Expected Commissioning: December 2018

Purpose: The project comprises of a new sinter plant of capacity 360 m2, 450 tpd lime kiln and raw material handling package. Project comprises of 4 Packages.

Stage II Approval date & Cost: 11.04.2015; Rs. 1034 crore

Contractor: Consortium of UKRIGIPROMEZ, Uralmash, BEC and Trafalgar International for Main Package & Consortium of TRF and H.N.Singh Construction for Raw material handling system package .

Present Status: Engineering is in advance stage of completion and site civil and structural activities is in progress.

Scheduled Commissioning Date: November 2017

Expected Commissioning: December 2018

Purpose: Battery No. 7 has been dismantled and is being rebuilt through a separate project. As Battery No.7 & 8 is a twin battery, revamping of common facilities in upstream and downstream (coal feeding conveyors, Quenching tower, settling pond, coke wharf coke sorting plant etc.) which is catering to both the batteries, can be done only during common shut down period of Battery No. 7 & 8..

Stage II Approval date and Cost: 04.11.2016; Rs. 262.87 crore

Contractor (Main Package): MECON 

Present Status: Engineering is almost completed and site activities for TOPR erection is in progress.

Schedule Commissioning Date: 31-May-2019

Purpose: It aims at replacing the outdated ingot route at BSL. The project consists of Slab Caster, BOF Converter, Ladle Furnace and its associated facilities including power supply. Project comprises of 5 Packages.

Stage II Approval date & Cost: 30.05.2015; Rs. 1154.18 crore

Contractor: Consortium of Consortium of Primetal Technologies, Austria, Primetal Technologies, India and L&T for Suppressed Combustion System with Replacement of BOF Converter package ; Consortium of SMS India Pvt. Ltd., India and M/s SMS Group, Germany for Ladle Furnace with Laboratory and Associated Facilities package; Consortium of Consortium of Primetal Technologies, Austria, Primetal Technologies, India and L&T for Slab caster with associated facilities package.

Present Status: Engineering and site activities are in advance stages of completion.
